Planning treatment based on facial and airway needs and not the occlusion.

Surgical occlusal correction has three goals: facial balance, airway patency, and bite correction (FAB correction). Doctors should be aware that multiple ways exist for correction of the bite to class I. As an example, the same class I bite may be achieved by headgear orthodontics, mandibular advancement, or bimaxillary advancement. What determines which procedure should be utilized to achieve class I? Analysis of the face and airway determine which mode of class I correction should be utilized. This presentation will describe diagnostic protocols to correct not only the bite, but the face and airway.

November 19-20, 2009

Sleep Apnea Symposium, Clinica Alemana

Santiago, Chile

Keynote speaker

Surgical treatment planning to optimize airway size, promote facial balance, and bite correction will be highlighted.
